(Sediment-related Disaster Prevention Law)

The Sediment-related Disaster Prevention Law was established in 2000 with the objective of protecting people from sediment-related disasters. The Law is intended for promoting non-structural preventive measures including the publicity of risk information of sediment-related disaster-prone areas, development of warning and evacuation system, restriction on new land development for housing and other specific purposes, and promotion of relocation of existing houses. (See p.30 for more details.)
