The first conference was held in 1999.
The 9th Japan-Italy Conference on Sediment-related Disaster Prevention Technologies was held in the Province of Venice, Italy on May 20, 2014. Japanese participants gave six presentations and Italian participants gave five presentations, followed by an active exchange of opinions.
On a field trip from May 21, conference participants visited the site of a major sediment collapse that occurred in Rotolon in 1989, the Vajont Dam, where a large-scale sediment collapse occurred at the slope of the dam lake in 1963, and the site of the Alta Badia landslide that occurred in 2012.
